Colorado elk Backdoor is open!

Yep! unit 49! I\'m open to any advice from anyone thats been there. Brad, as a Co. resident, maybe you could get over there a few times this summer to check it out! you have my E-mail address. :lol:
 
Tim, beat advice I can offer on 49 is to get in great shape. Conditions change constantly over there and you\'ll need to adapt on the fly. Much of it is steep. You\'ll have a great hunt if you\'re in good condition.
 
Congrats to those that drew! My buddy and I drew, just need to wait and see if it was our first or second choice....
 
mainebrdr, now that I\'m retired and it\'s fishing season, I can sleep when I want and be up when I want. Getting into the mid-day nap mode along with my daily workouts so I\'ll be totally conditioned when elk season starts!

Wife drew 1st rifle season elk Unit 61 and we\'re pretty excited. Going to be hiring an guide for this hunt - too much pressure to get a big bull and I don\'t want that \"burden\"! :)

Also found out last night I have private land access for archery cow elk(OTC unit) so going to be checking out that property this coming weekend.

Anyone know if the backdoor draw results show RFW tags? Only reason I ask is the document Brad sent out earlier with adjusted tag allocations doesn\'t show RFW tags either. Got a buddy who should\'ve drawn his tag but no backdoor 580 code yet.

Good question!
And I dont know and havent heard of that one.
I would think any draw tag would show a 400 or 500 code.
Let us know if he gets the tag or not
 
Just spoke to my buddy and he is excited, but at the same time he is still skeptical until the official results are out. He put in for a 201 hybrid tag as a first choice, then unit 61 ES archery as his second choice. He is showing a 500 code, which we think would mean he obtained the hybrid tag - as there is no way one would get a unit 61 tag on a second choice. So, we will wait until the official results...
