You know what they say when you have a cow tag in hand. Me and my buddy saw/called in 4 bulls in two days, the smallest a 5x5 and a MONSTER 6x6, both those bulls were 25 yds or less. At least we found elk in a new area and had a great \"hunt\", just no cows.

LOL!! Welcome to my world Barry! I am notorious for that. Says a lot about those either sex tags...that can make a big difference on joining the 10% club. At least you are seeing some elk, and quality bulls at that. Are you still out on the hunt?

Nope we\'re back now. It was very entertaining to play with those bulls and I learned a bunch about the area so we have a plan for next year. The bull I called in was following me because I was cow calling as I walked because the brush is so thick you can\'t help but make noise going through it. i sat down to regroup and he snuck in from the direction I just came from. It was like trolling, so the next time I need to set up to cover my back trail and have a bull tag in my pocket. Didn\'t tag a deer either, but that was by choice. Saw 30-60 deer a night, mostly whitetails with a handful of muleys thrown in. First night I got on a vantage point to glass and scout and saw no less than 200 deer of all shapes and sizes. In five evenings of hunting I saw about 15 bucks that were close to or over pope and young, and a friend saw a 150\" class. We went 2 for 4, am 8 pt and a 10 pt, both about 125\"

Now on to WI whiteys

in three years of elk huntin i think i saw like 2 cows. i dont think there are any cows out there

Give me a bull tag and I could find em for you!

Ah but you do realize them Bulls knows you don\'t have a tag in your pocket :)

Hopefully your weather cools back down for the WI whitetails. I used to go up there for opening weekend for many, many years and ended up feeding the mosquitoes more than anything.
