Last year when talking to the landowner where I bowhunt, he mentioned losing several calves to coyotes and would welcome me to come whack as many as I can before this coming year\'s calves start to drop.

I was emailing the landowner earlier this week and he mentioned coming back down and they\'ve been seeing a few yotes running around. This said, I have no clue about actually hunting coyotes(not including jumping out of a truck on a dirt road and shooting off a fence post)!

Anyone interested in showing me a few tricks of the trade either on a hunt or not? I don\'t have any calls, decoys or small caliber rifle just a very loud 7mm mag! The property is close to Alamosa so about 3 hours or so from Colorado Springs. I\'d drive and cover gas and maybe even lunch.

I don\'t have a set date for a hunt or hunts. We\'re having a beef processed in Alamosa and I\'ll likely have to go pick it up in the next 2 weeks. Figured if the weather wasn\'t too bad then I\'d combine picking up the beef with a yote hunt then go back again closer to when calving starts and hopefully better/warmer weather.

Anyone interested??

That sounds like a blast Russ! I doubt I could swing that, but wish I could. Nothing wrong with shooting them with the 7 mag. No such thing as a coyote that is too dead! As far as calls go, if you have the money an electric caller could be well worth it. If not, you can pick up a couple calls for pretty cheap at any hunting shop. Most of them are pretty easy to use and you can youtube videos as well to make sure you sound right.

You may be to far for Brad but I think is kinda like some folks I know when it come s certain kinds of hunting... \"HAVE GUN, WILL TRAVEL\".... :mg: :mg:

I didn\'t see this sooner, I coyote hunt all the time and live just south of Alamosa more than happy to shoot a few. got caller and am familiar with area probably.

Sounds like you found someone to hunt with Russ. Don\'t forget pics .....

Appreciate it Tdiesel and I\'ll be in touch once I know my plans. Will just be a day hunt the first weekend then may schedule a full weekend hunt closer to when calving starts.

If you\'re cooking, I would travel 200 hours to help. :upthumb:
200 hours is a long time Dan. That about 10 or 12 trips out to Colorado for me

Derek, don\'t believe everything you read on the internet and especially here you have to consider the source!!

I still think it was the morning coffee and cinnamon rolls just the chili happened to be \"next in line\" so to speak!

:haha: very true! I forget that when WW says something you have to take it with a grain of salt...or in this case coffee and cinnamon rolls! :tease:

Dan, after texting you last night, I think we need to expand on the idea of breakfast sandwiches with a side of elk gravy for dipping! Sounding better and better. I could bring my panini press to Oklahoma for the sandwiches! :)

Probably has to do with me starting working out and not able to eat everything that I want!
