Days of hunting

How many days do you normally hunt out of the elk season?

I typically only get about 5-8 days to hunt due to work and family.  Thats usually enough time for me to harvest an animal.

I generally get 6-7 weeks off during hunting season. I'll spend a week at a time hunting with short breaks to resupply, see the wife, and scrub the nastiness off.

wow i would love to get 6-7 weeks off.  I sure would be gone the whole time. Id tell the wife she can come visit.

5 days off was the longest hunt I had been on. starting the previous Friday running through the next Sunday. So roughly 9 days of hunting. I might try and extend it this year.

I usually get 8 to 9 days to hunt, plus being a flatlander from Michigan, I usually get there 3 to 4 days early to adjust to the elevation and scout some.

Benefits of a firefighter schedule

Yeah i guess that is true about being a firefighter.. Im a police officer and they dont offer anything like that. Maybe ill have to have a chat with someone.

I usually have three to four weeks to hit the hills. If I am hunting elk I usually plan 7-10 days. If it is a great tag even more. In addition, I spend tons of time trying to chase down a decent bull on the Wasatch front in Utah.

Would like to hunt more but my wife already hates that I take two weeks for elk season every year...

Maybe I misunderstood the question? I typically try to hunt for a minimum of 8 days straight, but prefer 2 weeks or more.
A whole elk season can see me in the backcountry for a full month or more depending on when I get my first, and where I am hunting that year.

I take 2 weeks off from work. I usually talk my boss into a few random days off as well. I usually get to hunt around 20 days.

Typically 25-35 days a year....that is every weekend from Labor Day through Thanksgiving and 3-4 weeks off....having 2 Idaho tags since they started offering a 2nd tag and a MT Combination tag for the last 10 yrs running....I say thank you to the wife and what can I do for you for the other 9 months ;D

From August 15th-October 31st I'm generally hunting all the time. I will take a day or two off to get re-supplied and such.

I usually end up with 18-20 days off. I like to take extended weekends for the first three weeks of season and then take either the last week or second to last week of the season off.

I hunt a full 30 days and am in the woods another 30 days.  Bow hunting is what I do in all seasons I can.  I live in Oregon and we have very limited rut hunting because of the timing of the hunts.
