Dealing with an addiction....HELP

Addiction?  What addiction?  I am not addicted. I can quit any time I want to!  I just go to the gym every day and kill myself to make it easier to walk around my yard.  And I shoot every day just to pass the time.  Really? Do you think it's an addiction?

Fishing, Hiking, Shed hunting, bear hunting, turkey hunting, adn getting a membership to your local 3d archery club help.  Use the built up energy you feel that drives your compulsion for the field and turn it into a physical exercise routine.  Get fit and expand your knowledge of all things wild.  Put boots on the ground and find the sweet spots elk rut in year after year.  Addictions can be fun if the energy is tuned into growth and adventure!  Know that elk are part of a dynamic system of life and the mountains, trees, water, grass, shrubs and wildlife depend on one another for a healthy existence.  Get to know the family of existence that awaits a man in the field, not just focused on our obsession the elk.  Realize all knowledge will enhance your experience in elk country.

I asked an older gentleman how he was as I took him back for a procedure, and his reply,"I wish I was elk hunting".  He was 95 years young and is still chasing!  He said he saw a bull at 500 yards this year and passed.  He did however go right to cabelas after the hunt and bought a new 300 win mag to be ready for next year!  How many addictions will get you to 95 and still have dreams and drive to get out.  He got me excited just listening to his story.

My elk addiction started last year.  Had never had the chance to go elk hunting and after my first try I was hooked.  You know what they say "knowing is half the battle".  I WILL be hunting elk this year somewhere.

I got it bad I packed my pack full yesterday and then set up a tent I was told was a four person tent.....I forgot to mention that I set  up the tent in the living room.... Good thing the kid and the dog can't tell the wife.

My wife calls it Hyper focus and it's all year long,  it's like training for the olympics ever year and it has no cure.  Good luck with your addiction

Hello everyone.  I'm John, I too am an elkoholic.  My wife just laughs and shakes her head when I call her from my truck driving home from work and I give her a cow call through the phone.  Calls are in the truck for year round practice.  Google earth is my most used program on my computer besides visits to elk101 or the DOW websites.  One of my buddies wives thinks we need professional help!  Lol. What a wonderful addiction to have IMHO! Keep hammering folks, it will be here before you know it!
