Which is a harder kill to accomplish???

A 25yd shot at an 150\" deer [WT or MD] with a bow or a 400 shot at a 150\" deer [WT/MD] with with a rifle?

I am an avid bowhunter and definitely have done my share of shooting rifles at long range.

So many things can go wrong with each shot, but IMO, the 400yd rifle shot is harder...

In my minimal experience shooting a bow, I would still say that the rifle shot would be harder. Now, getting a shot opportunity at those distances is a different story with deer! I would think taking a solid mule deer with a bow would be one heck of a challenge.

Both are slam dunk shots if you have enough ice in your veins. The close bow shot can unnerve some guys. The 400 yard rifle shot from a good rest with my 7 mag is easy. I haven\'t shot that gun in years. However, I have two M77s. One in 7 mag and the other in 220 Swift. Popping prairiedogs at 400 yds. is no problem with the Swift. It keeps me tuned up in case I ever want to use the 7 mag sometime.

x2 with WW. Browning 7 mag at 400 wouldn\'t unnerve me. 25 yard with a bow might so I\'d say bow shot would be harder for me. Never had a 150\" that close!

Since I have never shot a rifle, and have bow hunted over 30 years I would say rifle shot would be harder

I\'ve \"dorked\" on more 400 yd rifle shots ( mostly coyotes) so I choose the close 25. Not saying it\'s never happened, but it has been a LONG time since missing a mulie at 25 yds.

It is also something to consider that getting in the 25yd range can be quite a feat

For me it\'s the 400 yard shot.

I have no experience with long distance shooting.
Derek may laugh and call 400 yards a chip shot, but until I actually practice, that is intimidating.

25 yards to 30 yards is my ideal shot. Not too close, not too far, it\'s PERFECT!

I voted the rifle shot as well! Although I am putting a lot of faith in my very limited bow experience

I could have you shooting 25 yards in 25 minutes.

It took me a whole box of Noslers to zero in a rifle at 100 yards.... :dk: :shh:

Hahaha, I think we need to spend some time together Dan. Sounds like it would be good for both of us!

I was not happy that day. I don\'t need to explain how much that cost to get it on paper...

Being a bow hunter my whole life who does not even own a rifle, just a muzzle loader. The 400 yard shot would be way harder for me.

From a tree stand, a broadside 25 yard shot at a standing deer is pretty easy. If you change things then a 25 yard shot may be more difficult. A 400 yard shot with a rifle, requires a good rest and optics for me.

25 yd bowshot is very doable if you can keep yourself together. i will argue that MOST people, not talking about anyone in particular, cannot make a 400 yd shot. i live in mo and i know tons of guys that say they can make that shot, and most have never even shot a target that far. so much goes into a shot like that besides putting the crosshairs on the target and shooting. even if your gun has a 1inch moa, that 2 at 200 4 at 300 8 at 400. so completely taking out human error, wind, temp, etc your at the edge of the vital signs with a well shooting rifle. yes, some can, but most cant. for the record, i cant.

I think stalking a deer to get him to a 25yrd shot is pretty tuff. As far a the actual shot goes I think the 400yrd shot is more difficult. My last two deer I shot were at 300 and 380yrds(in the prone position with very solid rest) but I have missed several elk at 30yrds and under HMMMM maybe I need to rethink this  :)
