Is there anyone that uses either a Heads up Decoy or a Montana decoy to hunt with? if so how do you normally set it up when hunting?

I have used the Montana decoy And it is just to large for back country hunting.

Thinking of buying a heads up this year, just seems much more manageable.

I was comparing the two decoys and i think im going to go with the Heads Up Decoy and hope that will work for me this coming year.

I have both and now find that the Heads up is always packed and sometimes the Montana Decoy.  Use the Heads up on my bow or clamped to a limb.  Bow if I am solo and on a limb if calling with my partner.  I like the have a big stick to thrash trees, so don't use the Heads up in my hands.  The key for me is to make the decoy visible, but not so isolated that it appears unnatural.  The bulls definitely focus on it than on my calling.

Have never tried the heads up, but am about to pull the trigger.  I do enjoy using my Montana decoy though.  It works well.

Ive never hunted with a decoy and doubt I will. Just afraid some idiot will shoot my decoy with me standing behind it. I know there have been times I wish I had one .

I have used the Montana Decoy and although it was a little bulky to pack, it DOES work! I have had bulls running in after the decoy after some calling sequences and they see it.  It definitely works!

I can't tell you how many times i have meant to take and forget it. We have a good spot now that i think will work well with a decoy so I'm going to have to put a sticky note on my bow every night to remember ;)

I use a montana full body decoy and for setups usually after findng an area in between bedding/feeding grounds will setup with the decoy/caller downwind preferably in a grove of trees or bushes and the shooter 30-40 yds from them with the caller calling and if something comes in it usually spots the decoy first , after its been seen then drop it down so they get curious and come closer- will probably try a heads up decoy this year as the full body is great........ but kind of a pain to setup/takedown/carry
