deer season is here!

its unusually warm here..... but that makes it much easier on the little guy! we did see 4 does total. one right at day break that picked us out of the stand, as I was moving into shooting position. its a righty stand and I am a lefty.... another doe popped up out of the grass on the way out, I had already taken out the primer from the muzzy.... 2 other does trotted by out of range while doing a mini drive with my buddy.
not bad for morning 1. we will go back out after he gets home from school. he thought that was pretty neat, missing a morning of school! btw, this isn\'t my oldest, he the middle boy who is too young to shoot a deer. they must be 10, hes 8.....

the rain held off today, just long enough for me to take an hour of comp, so I could grab the boy after school and get on stand. we weren\'t on stand for more than a half hour, when the thunder and lightning came :?
we did see some feeding in the field near where we were able to hunt. just couldn\'t get to them....

slim pickings on the deer situation....
only 2 1/2 more days to hunt. and I sure don\'t want to have to buy a muzzy tag to get another crack at one....

sat Friday evening with the boy. it was semi productive..... saw 2 does far off out in the field, then an average 8 pointer, I think. I missed him at 65 yards with the muzzy
even at 65 yards, my front sight covered a huge portion of him, and the rear peep just plain ol sucks..... as soon as I put the sight on him, the peep blurred out.
I didn\'t see anything on sat and I had a barn fire to go to on sunday morning that took all day.
put me down for another big fat 0......
although, I can get a tag for muzzy season :think:

probably...... that would be my luck..... actually, this was right around end of shooting time, so I took the pic.... I couldn\'t have shot anything unless it was close.
pics are deceptive.... it looks really light out, but as you can see, the camera needed flash....
