DeLorme inReach SE - Purchased!

The more I play around with this unit, the more I like it.

They cost ~$300

The subscription fee varies on your plan, and how you want to use it. But they all are pretty reasonable.

Aaron Johnson and I were chatting tonight about them and where we get into good elk hunting, there isnt any cell service. And you can send messages between units instead of driving to a place to check in.

With the above data, Its looking like the battery drains approx 20% / day.

Im sure it wouldnt last that long if it was outside in a colder climate tho

You mostly truck camp don you Brad? Would AK the battery use more than acceptable if that is the case.

Is it kind of like a cellphone in that it uses more battery in lower coverage areas due to the phone have to search for a signal more often??????????

Mark,
Yeah I typically camp near the truck, and now that I know how much battery life there is, Im very satisfied

I think the satellite lock on would use less battery like cell service.

I got one off of ebay last year as well. Wonderful piece of technology! My gf was texting me weather reports for the area I was hunting.
