For those that went elk hunting this year, regardless if you were successful or not, did you miss a shot?

Apparently.

I was sure my placement was good on this bull, but when he twisted into a broadside position, his near shoulder blade must have dropped down. I looked for him one full day, and on two other days, and didn\'t recover him. I got at least half my 28 inch arrow into his chest.

Jeff,

What did you film that with?

Dan, it was filmed with a Sony HD Handycam. I had it mounted to a tree limb, and started the video with a small LANC remote when I saw the bull coming in.

I can\'t seem to get very good resolution on You Tube. Don\'t think I\'m processing the video with the best settings or something.

I was going to tell you that the quality turned out GREAT playing it on my phone.

Thanks Dan. I just wish I could see the arrow better

It\'s always a fine line from a treestand...I wanted to compensate for the angle, but not hit too low. I was really aiming more forward (for the \"V\")...and I blew it and shot about 4 or 5 inches back. Of course, the fact that I shot him on the move didn\'t help...I was afraid to try to bark and stop him because I didn\'t want him to \"reposition\" and turn my way. Probably a big mistake.

I had one shot at a bull. I misjudged the distance and undershot it. I just grazed the critter. The bull was coming in, and I had a descent shot at 35 yards, but I thought it would continue to come. Just then for no known reason, he turned at a right angle and walked away, until I shot when he stopped again at 45 yards. I took all of the slow out of him. The odd thing is that he circled around and went above my stand and bugled for about ten minutes. I had a slight blood trail for about 70 yards, and that was all.

Nope, 10 yard frontal shot. Arrow went all the way through his body and stuck into the hind quarter. He was dead in less than 10 sec.

Interesting. What vitals did it hit?
