Another DIY Project

I made the decision to CUT THE CABLE TV
Cost were steadily rising and I had ENOUGH!

With this simple DIY Project I will save $80/month!

I did my research and now have 17 Channels of FREE DIGITAL TV !!!

Here is how I did it:

1- Go to <!-- m --><a class=\"postlink\" href=\"http://www.tvfool.com/\" onclick=\"window.open(this.href);return false;\">http://www.tvfool.com/</a><!-- m --> and enter your address and the height you will hang the antenna
It will show you how far away local tv stations are, what direction they are, and give you antenna options

2 - Build an antenna [this is the best DIY one I found] for less than $10
You can buy a $50 antenna but that isnt any fun :)

Easy!
You need a 2x4, some screws, washers, copper wire, coat hangers and 8 metal clothes hangers and a coax balun [$5]

I hung it up in my attic, pointed it in the direction tvfool said, and re-programmed my TVs!

If anyone has any questions, please let me know.
I will be glad to help

Very interesting...

I was always under the assumption you had to have a antenna outside to get any channels. Gonna have to look this over for sure.

I am too cheap to do cable. Plus I am only inside in the winter months. I have an antenna on my roof and have trouble getting some channels because of the trees and where i live. I am mounting my antenna on a telephone pole to get it higher. I will finish it after I get done elk hunting. The pole is set. I hope it helps. I will check out the site you posted for directions.

No hunting shows
You can try <!-- m --><a class=\"postlink\" href=\"http://www.carbontv.com\" onclick=\"window.open(this.href);return false;\">http://www.carbontv.com</a><!-- m --> for online watching
Free hunting and outdoors shows like Heartland Bowhunter and others

We got roku it\'s 50 I think for initial purchase but then you can add the channels ya want if you don\'t wanna pay anything don\'t we pay a Netflix charge mostly for kids shows that\'s 7.99 a month that\'s all we pay for tv each month carbontv is on there and I watch it YouTube is also on there Several others I know wild tv was like 2.99 a month if you wanted it but I\'m cheap has the pursuit channel and a few others I really don\'t watch too much tv though but then again I live in a place where we get 5 channels if we are lucky on a regular tv antenna

I remember pheasant hunting with my buddy last year and he was telling me about how they \"cut the cord\". He then went on to tell me that in order to watch everything they wanted they subscribed for netflix streaming and dvd, HULU, Roku, Amazon, blah, blah, blah...in the end I asked him if he was actually saving money and maybe he was but it sounded like a PITA and most shows he wanted to watch were at least 24 hours behind.

I love the idea but in the end I can\'t help but wonder, where do I point my couch if I get rid of cable? :mrgreen:

Checked out the TVfool.com web site. There was only one PBS station listed for my area. Just not worth it. Oh well, that\'s the price you pay to live in paradise! :p

We\'ve got an indoor antenna, too ... DISH was way too expensive, especially for what we got. Which was crap.

Best to find something else to do, anyway.

Amazon Prime has plenty to watch, though, and that\'s what we do when we do watch TV.
