Anyways.... does this spot interest you?
Would you care about this water or just walk on by?

Dan, cool little spot for sure! As the weather gets hotter, it will get popular if it\'s an active wallow.

Water \"expresses\" on that bench...have you followed the drainage downhill to see if it appears again somewhere? If this spot is not on the map, surely there are many more, possibly some that may stay full and active through September. Just spitballing here

water is too clean.

i love them nasty looking and reeking of animal...err..hmmm. uh.....od de parfum?

this applies to hog hunting as well.

This thread is for geeh wiz information and not to say who is right or wrong.
I think it would be cool to see how the summer and season plays out on this spot.

I pulled my first set of pictures from it and got some GREAT pictures.
That\'s for now though, this bad boy could dry up at any time..... but here is why I hope it doesn\'t....

Dan
Nice pics!
Even tho that water hole has water now or may dry up, its still not the reason why those elk are in the area.

Too many elk there so Im thinking there are other spots nearby... :)

Great pics Dan...great area for sure.

I concur with Brad\'s train of thought on this...my instinct is telling me there are more \"honeyholes\" around there somewhere...

I agree, were not seeing the \"whole\" picture. It looks like the water level has not gone down at all. I don\'t think you can overlook this area even if it does dry up.

You guys are all spot on... This is a very very very good area with more to offer ;)

I love the pictures though. I hope to get more.
Even when it dries up, it\'ll be interesting to see if animals wallow around in the mud and then use it as a dry wallow.
I\'ll leave this camera here unit end of sept.

Love the pictures and I was watching one rock in the water and it appeared to not loose much if any water from the 24th to the 29th... :D :D

Keep um coming since ya\'lls pictures are what keeps me going.... :upthumb: :upthumb:

By the way what Covert are you using??? I have several MP6 blacks and a Red 40 we use at our deer lease.......

It\'s the MP6. I got it cheap and it does a GREAT JOB!

Dan, how far away from the water hole is the camera? What do you think the trigger distance is? Hard to tell how close/far the animals are that trigger the picture.

I\'m looking at another 1 or 2 cameras for this season.

I\'d be fine just sitting in a tree over the water hole - rest of the elk can meander wherever they are going as long as 1 or 2 stop for a drink!

This camera is right off this \"water hole\"
Maybe 8 yards, the elk on the opposite side are maybe only 20-25 yards away!

Russ,

This camera is about 30 yards from the water and 17 feet up in a tree....

I see a tree stand coming for this waterhole.... :D :D

Do they graze cattle in this area, Dan????

Phil, I believe it was a cattle grazing area years ago, but what you are looking at now is my secret magic spot that I have shown.... NO ONE.
I had over 200 pictures of elk in this area so far in 2 weeks.... lots of bulls and cows..... :dance2:
