This will not be my personal journal for the year, this is so much more!

So welcome to a journal about three guys who are about to have elk trembling and dreaming about us lurking in the trees.
This year Gary (zpd307) Steven (razorback), and I will be setting off to put some elk down.

As of right now we have two plans set in stone. First we all applied to New Mexico. The draw date for NM is April 28th.
If we draw then it\'s game on in Carson National Forest. If not then it\'s off to Idaho...... :dance2:

I am starting this early so we can have something to pass time before the draw and to keep us motivated.
We can post our workout routines, scouting reports, and just anything else to keep it fun.

Even more, this will be a giant picture dump come our hunting trip!

Anyways, ENJOY!

:D I am too for new mexico. but I have an inner peace this year because I know where to find elk in Idaho if that is where we end up. last year was nerve racking, going to a new spot w/o knowing where the elk were, even after a scouting trip...... so far, I have been able to find them the 3 years that I have gone. so I don\'t feel nervous this year, even if we end up in new mexico!

This is going to be a awesome adventure for you guys, can\'t wait for the stories. More BTO members hooking up on a hunt. :upthumb:

francis, and all.... this is going to be another epic year! new spot, new partners/friends. I am super excited!

I\'m pretty pumped up myself!!

Workouts are going decent. Weighed in at 223 this morning. 9 pounds heavier than I was in September last year but I have been lifting so not sure that\'s all bad.

Can\'t wait to see either New Mexico or Idaho. I grew up reading Outdoor Life magazine articles up elk hunting in Idaho. Always wanted to try that. Will Primos told me there no place he would rather hunt than New Mexico so it\'s a win/win for me

Can\'t wait to hunt with Gary and Dan.

Here\'s the first thing I look at every morning when I come to work. My NM application and my ultimate goal. Just a little motivation for the work out at the end of the day!

steve, I am not too bad off weight wise. up 5 pounds from elk hunting weight of 195, at 190. now that I started running again, since the weather hasn\'t been too bad..... I was almost 200 last summer at my triathlon in july. if I can keep that weight off by then, I will really be sitting pretty. 180 might actually be a real goal for September! I could really feel the difference hiking in the mtns at 185 instead of 200. keep up the hard work!

My fianc? and I are going to start doing 1-2 5Ks every month starting in March. That should help. I am looking for 10Ks...

dan. races or just workouts? 5ks are nice because they don\'t beat you up. I can do 5ks every other day, 10ks make me take a couple of days off. the nice thing about races is that they pump you up and get you running faster.

Actual races. We do 5Ks for workouts all the time too.
We just enjoy doing races because it\'s something to train for and feel good about after.
One of our favorite things to do is race hard and then pick a restaurant to pig out at after. :D

We love food :dance2:

cant pig out too much after 5ks :downthumb: I only burn around 500-600 calories. I more than made up for that in beer after last nights run.... I burned 5083 calories during my may marathon, that deserves a pig out session!

Last week 25 miles on the elliptical and a hike with my pack on Saturday. I didn\'t find any sheds. I was hoping to find some hog sign and post pics. No luck. Hogs are hit and miss in that area, I jumped one in there last spring turkey hunting and sometimes find a lot of rooting. Took Sunday off and ate TOO MUCH!!!

Now back to the working out for this week!!!

:D that\'s why I put myself in the middle for voting on my physical routine. sometimes I say to hell with it! and pig out....

Runs have been going well, diet has been in check, bow has been shooting great!

I am getting excited guys

i havent started shooting yet.... when i can set aside a day, something pops up. it doesnt help that i have to drive a half hour one way and pay to shoot. come spring, things will change.

Weighed 227 this morning :downthumb: No superbowl party or UFC party, stayed home from both. Diet was good. 30 miles on elliptical last week. 5.25 mile hike with my pack on my Friday and lifted a couple of days.

I haven\'t started shooting yet. I\'m waiting to get my new string and cables and rest. I talked to my bow guy, it may be a litle while before the rest I want is available. I think I\'m going with a Ripcord Ace. Once I get it set up and we get a little more daylight, I\'ll be shooting after workouts. Looking forward to that, one of my favorite things to do is to shoot bows with my son.
