Elk beware, 2015.

I started thinking about getting my own shooting block last summer. I had been going out to my buddies and using his. just haven\'t pulled the trigger, because we have a city ordinance preventing shooting bows in city limits. many have 3d deer targets in their back yard. I don\'t give them a hard time. I am itchy to start shooting and don\'t want to tie up hours of driving and such, along with the money to shoot indoors when I can get a block and shoot 20 or so arrows and be done in a little bit.
so I decided to start looking for a shooting block...
picked up a cold also..... :downthumb:

Gary,

If you\'re looking at targets, I\'ve bought a ton of them. My son can blow through a target in a month! He absolutley obliterated a Rhinehart in two months. We have a couple of those and a bag as well as a blob. Blob targets are not really a commercial target, we bought ours at an ASA shoot in Illinois. It was pretty cheap, I think like $90. It\'s huge and weighs a ton. It holds up better than the commercial targets too.

steve, I checked out those targets. do you have any experience with the 24x24x10? it looks as though that it needs something to rest against, so it doesn\'t fall over.

I believe that\'s the same one I have. It\'s free standing. It weighs around 80 pounds, an arrow won\'t knock it over.

good to know! i just saw a bunch of pics where the target was setting against something.

Started using a little app this week- <!-- w --><a class=\"postlink\" href=\"http://www.myfitnesspal.com\" onclick=\"window.open(this.href);return false;\">www.myfitnesspal.com</a><!-- w -->

I can count my calories and log in my work outs. I like the way it breaks down the food by carbs/fat/protien.

I\'ve averaged 1365 calories per day this week and logged 33 miles on the elliptical.

That seems very very low on the calorie side. Be careful!

Even when I am in a cutting stage, I am still eating around 2200 calories!
Congrats on the milage though! :upthumb:

not much to report. I am feeling a ton better now. am able to get back into my pushups and situps routine. some weather had come through, making outside activities no very fun. so I am not....

sick again.... even the wife has noticed. i spent the night at a district scout recognition awards banquet. got a scouter of the year award. was told about it last night at a scouting tubing night. i am supposed to go take my middle boy ice fishing in the am. it supposed to be -30 with the wind chill. brrrrr
i was incorporating jumping jack squats into my rountine, before the crud hit. i gues thats what happen when you spend a few shifts at the school eating lunch with your boys.

Congrats on your award!!!! :upthumb:

GET BETTER

ice fishing was bunk.... 3 adults and 2 children. they handled it like champs. over 3 hours with not a single bite..... was going to relocate for the third time when mother nature told my auger that it was too cold to fish. the recoil housing busted completely off when trying to start it :downthumb: spent all day on the couch watching the wire on amazon prime. feel a bunch better. :upthumb:

Finally getting over this bug. Work outs have been on and off, not easy when you\'re hacking and coughing and breathing through your mouth. I\'ve also broke out the calls. Wife has been patient so far. I\'ve got to work on my bugles, chuckles and grunts. I\'ve just about given up on being able to make cow sounds with a reed. I believe turkey calling has ruined me and dropping my tongue is like a reflex causing me to have a break and not get the sliding sound I need. I may keep practicing but I have several open reed calls so I can make cow/calf sounds so I\'m not too worried.

I stopped by the bow shop this week and ordered cables, strings and a new rest for my bow. I\'m ready to start shooting as soon as the ice and snow melt off and the temps get come up a little. I also ordered books for college :downthumb: classes start 9 March. I had no idea books were so expensive. I could be wearing Sitka gear this fall for what I\'m gonna end up spending on books. Oh well at least college will keep me somewhat occupied until September!

Finished the week at 219. Weighed 214 last September so I should be under that weight for this fall\'s hunt.
