Elk beware, 2015.

temp got into the 40s today! shot the bow today. I lost 2 arrows at 25 yards..... then I forgot that I haven\'t shot the bow since I had the string reset.

3.6 miles today..... the weather is awesome!
I had a nice 2 mile run then hit the gym for an hour. I am feeling great.
I love cold weather, but this warmer weather is getting me motivated to workout

5 miles yesterday and 9 miles today on the mtn bike. getting an early start on the tri training :upthumb:

Wow. Things have been crazy. I have 4 more days in the office and then I\'m just working on retirement stuff. I start my new job on 1 June. I met my new boss Saturday and I think I\'m going to love working there. It also appears an elk hunt this fall is still a very good possibility as that was one of the first things I inquired about :upthumb:

i hope elk hunting works out steven! i know that the new job is very exciting, but thats the nice thing about tenure that is hard to give up. we are going to be going through that this summer with the wife. no vacation.... the boys and i are going to be going to some cool places without her this summer.

I spoke to my supervisor and she was good with my taking off. Her biggest concern was me taking off in a Leave without Pay status while on probation. She want to confirm that it won\'t have any negative bearing on me. I should be able to buy my military time back and start accruing leave as if I\'ve worked for the Forest Service for 22 years which will allow me to accrue vacation days at a much faster rate  At least I\'m hoping and that also allows me to retire faster.

I suppose I should update this thread. no new mexico elk for steve and i. so off to Idaho we go along with terry! dan better tag out early again, or else we will be tagged out before he even gets there  it feels good to actually get some planning done for a change.....

That is the plan!!!! Tag out so we can play in Idaho!!!!!
Id love to come up with some fresh tenderloins!

I\'d like to have some before you get there.

In 2012 when I shot my elk my hunting partner was off hunting while I stayed back in camp to debone the quarters and some camp chores. Upon his return after dark I had it timed so that his fresh elk loins and potatoes with onions were fresh and hot off of the grill. Mmmmmmmmm

no kidding!

just checking in...... almost 2 months out, tag in hand and feeling spritely from the exercise! dan\'s motivation is really helping :upthumb: I smiled this morning when the scale read 183 :D
I am keeping pretty occupied getting a 1/2 marathon organized for next june during our city festival. getting lots of good feedback and already have some sponsors from businesses in town :upthumb:
august is going to busy.... scout camp, then a triathlon, then another trip to Wyoming. then we will be 3 weeks until go time!
I do need to shoot more, I haven\'t even shot my new arrows yet. but i am shooting well enough that I am not worried ;)

Congrats on the 183, that is GREAT! I still think you\'ll squeeze in under 180 for the trip. Which is great because you\'ll be even leaner dragging your elk out
