Elk decoy

I used the "be the decoy" hat and shirt last season. I hunt alone a lot, and sometimes I need to get the bull to go one way or the other for a shot. This getup allowed me to move around A LOT more without frightening the bull off. I certainly didn't go running up to him in the open, but the colors and shape certainly seemed to give me a lot of leeway in repositioning, even in front of a watching bull. Yes, I looked ridiculous, but hey, it works  ;D

P.S. I would recommend keeping the hat strapped to your pack, and the shirt underneath a camo shirt when not moving in on an elk - don't need to have someone trying to hunt you!

we use the Montana decoy sometimes when the elk are down low on the plains and they aren't coming up  into the foothills where we are set for ambush.  Without the decoy we can sit and call for hours without an elk interested in coming in.  Once we set up the decoy in a line of sight the bulls get much more interested in traveling in.  In this manner you appeal to multiple senses rather than just auditory.  I highly recommend them for open areas.  In mountainous areas where visibility is short range I find them to be unnecessary weight in my bag.

Have them, but it just seems that it is extra weight. when it happens we never have time to get them out. Hoping one day we can though...
