Im looking for a partner for archery season in Idaho this year in September. My two best (hunting) buddies moved away this past year, so now I'm having a tough time finding new folks to hunt with.
Brief background: I'm from Georgia and have lived in the Boise area since 2008. I'm in my 30s and in fairly decent shape. I have a young family so I can't devote days on end to scouting or lots of other things that I used to. I'm a competent outdoorsman. Historically, I'm a flyfisherman through and though. I love flyfishing...I'm a terrible teacher, but I would be willing to take anyone out if interested. I picked up duck hunting about 6 years ago and chukar hunting about 5 years ago. I love upland hunting, but still have a long way to go. I harvested my first deer 3 years ago. I hunted Elk in the McCall zone last fall unsuccessfully. I've decided to hunt Elk this archery season and I have a lot to learn before the last half of September. But I'm determined. I'm taking a few archery lessons (and plan to start practicing several days per week for at least 3 weeks), conditioning regularly, and I'm trying to learn as much as possible as quickly as possible.
Again, it really sucks that I've lost access to my 2 hunting/fishing buddies this year. They were both more advanced in big game knowledge than I am. I'd argue that I'm the more advanced fly fisherman
If there is anyone out there willing to take me in and teach me a little (or learn with me/from me), then I'd be more than grateful. I'm a pretty serious personality, but know when to laugh...or be laughed at . I do have a spot or two in mind, so don't assume that I'm just looking for new spots. I'd also like to mention that I'm not looking for a trophy bull. I'm just looking for my first Elk and I'd be more than happy with a healthy cow. I'm a team player and would enjoy helping others harvest as well.
Let me know if interested.
