I just moved to the Priest River area and just wanted to get to know some other bowhunters that are familair to hunting Idaho. I am new to Idaho and dont really know any people who share my passion. I was only able to get out bowhunting two days this year and the area I went to was a shot in the dark and I didnt see or hear anything except a large bull moose. If anyone had any pointers to get me pointed in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it! I realize archery season is over but I hope to get back out there general any weapon season. And if anyone had any pointers on finding some bear that would be great too!  :D

the pan handle used to be an amazing place to hunt bears were thick elk were a plenty then came the wolves my last trip there we saw nothing. over the last decade they have gotten thin and hard to find. living there you should have better luck being able to scout a lot will be the key. bulls stay high year round they use rock slides to move up and down the mountains but they seem to run the tops for the most part in my experience. do us all a favor and shoot as many wolves as you legally can.

BHF, I am in CDA. I have not hunted up by PR so I cannot say anything about that area. I do know that if you have the A tag you will get a short rifle season at the end of Oct and a late archery season in Dec. I usually solo but would welcome a partner.

Howdy, I'm in Hayden.  So if you haven't realized it you should start putting in for moose.  There's still lots of elk around.  For the record I heard about 10 howls from probably three seperate wolves this year...but I also heard a couple hundred bugles in only five days of hunting.  It's usually thicker and steeper than where you came from, but put your time in and you'll find elk.  I haven't hunted Unit 1 before but know guys that do well there.
