JVC everio, $200 and 40x optical zoom.  Fits in a pocket and is less than 10 oz.  They have a newer waterproof/shockproof one, but I have to brakemy old one to justify it first.  Here's some older stuff.  All freehand from 100-700 yards.

just picked up a new stabilizer that has a picatiny and camera mount

Haven't got it yet but the solvid head strap looks pretty good for the diy filmer that still want to be able to zoom more than the action cams.

Kodak playsport. Waterproof, HD and the size of a cell phone. Made a mount to go on the end of my stabilizer.
