So this will be my first time archery elk hunting here in Colorado. I've helped guide elk hunting but during the rifle seasons. I'm originally from the Midwest and have several years experience and success hunting big whitetails. My normal setup includes shooting the T3's by G5 Outdoors. I've had excellent success with these broadheads with zero failures and complete pass threw's and all recoveries within sight of my stand.

I know the manufacture shows photo's of elk being taken with these broadheads but everyone that I talk with about which broadheads to shoot keeps telling me to not use them. But, when asked why, the only response I get is "I just wouldn't use them"

So, long story short, does anyone here have any experience shooting elk the the G5 T'3 broadheads or the Grim Reaper broadheads?

Thanks in advance!

Hello, I have a great friend that has shot his past 3 Colorado elk with the G5 T3's. No issues at all. I think they are a great broad-head. That being said he is a very patient hunter that will only take great shots. I mean 40 yards or less and perfect broadside angle only. I would suggest that if you have the proper time to prepare you should take the time to tune your bow to a great fixed blade broad-head. If your a fan of G5 then I would suggest the striker. I have seen a few guys have great success on very large animals (specifically AZ bison) with the Grave Digger heads that are both fixed blade and mechanical.
