I have a food question…

I’ve heard a lot about Mountain House meals and how good they are but has anyone “Wise Company” meals.

If so how are they compared to Mountain House? What are the best flavors?

What do you take in with you ( food wise not gear) on an overnight or two  night BIVY hunt?

I usually do oatmeal packets, carnation and coffee for breakfast, single serve PB and bacon or tuna packet with bread for lunch and then a MH for dinner.  I'll supplement this with nuts, trail mix, protein bars as mid-morning/afternoon snacks.  For me, some of the MHs are really salty so try some out to find ones you like/can stomach after a day of hard hunting.  Some I like are lasagna, chicken/mex rice, beef strog, chili mac.

I haven't tried the Wise Company, but I have eaten my weight in MH meals and they're pretty good.  The scrambled eggs with bacon and peppers is actually pretty good breakfast, and most of the entrees are good dinners.  When I'm out in the backcountry I usually eat jerky, cheese, and dried fruits throughout the day rather than stopping for a lunch.
My one suggestion for eating the dehydrated meals would be to buy a couple brands if you're going for an extended trip.  I lived on MH for a 12 day trip, and by the end all of the food tasted the same.  Variety on my next long trip helped me look forward to dinner more than the previous trip.

I have always used MH while out hunting.  They have great taste and will fill you up.  I havent found one i dont like but with that being said everyone is different.  Some MH are saltier than others but they work. I always eat jerky, PB&J, nuts, trail mix while im in the woods but once i get back to camp its all MH from there.

How many of you have tried dehydrating your favorite meals?  You can make them for very cheap, they are really light and quick to prepare and you can control your portions.  The trick is to give 20 minutes to re-hydrate.  Take a look at this link.  It is an awesome recipe and it works great in the dehydrator.  I made up a bunch for my scouts a year ago and then fixed it for one of our dinners.  They slicked the pot up so clean you would have thought they were cats.  Anyway, take a look.  He has some other meals.  Remember to never trust a skinny cook!
