Fourth Weekend

First weekend with the family. I planned a very easy hunt but ended up going 8 miles the first morning. He said lets keep going dad! LOL.

He drew back on his first bull this morning. I had a really nice bull raking and moaning at 40 yards. Just couldn\'t close the deal.

Here\'s a few pictures from yesterday morning. Notice the nice game trail we found! :upthumb: Also a picture of my son taking a small food break before continuing the hunt. Man 12 year olds eat a lot!

Overall, not that many elk yet but we have a lot of season left. But great father-son bonding time. :clap:

1 out of 4 tags filled. Raul(a buddy) with a 64 yard shot. Hit him a little high but only went 150 yards and piled up.

I really like to hear updates from the hunts of other guys here ... and really ... it doesn\'t matter if there is success or not, adventure, or tough times ... I like hearing it all ... it sort of prepares me for all the possibilities of what is in front of me.

Well, the big 6x6 had a cow in front so no shot could be taken. Fact, the cows have not started into estrus yet cuz that big boy would not let this little guy hang around the herd if they were.

The toad is still in there and has John Jr. or my name on it! :mg:
