Free Gear Friday!!!

Colorado DIY Archery OTC

7-10 days

Probably 10%, first archery, first elk, first backcountry. Even if I don?t fill my tag I will learn a lot.

Hunting idaho archery season probably between 8 to 12 days. Mostly weekends but I'll extend the weekends as much as I can, especially if we get into them over the weekend. May have some friends coming in from out of state so I'll burn some additional vacation time to help them out as much as possible. 20% chance of killing a bull. 100% chance of sore legs, sweat, dirt, and fun.

Love the confidence in all these posts but the OTC success rates are <10% for a reason. It?s hard. With every knowledge advantage possible, not only from Elk University but also including knowledge of the specific areas and how elk use it given weather/hunting pressure/water/moon/temps, there are still SO MANY variables that can derail a hunt in an instant. This will be my 4th trip out and I damn sure expect to finally close the deal after countless close calls and a healthy dose of education from some wily public land bulls, but I still wouldn?t put my odds higher than 25%, though maybe it?s more like 25% going on 100. No matter what, a couple weeks in the elk woods beats a couple weeks anywhere else.

1) What state(s) are you hunting this year? Wisconsin, Michigan, Manitoba

This year I will be hunting in New Mexico. I'll be helping out a good friend who drew an elk tag in a decent area. We will be doing a backpack style hunt for at least 7 days in the Jemez mountains! I'd give us a 30% chance of harvesting this year.

1) Idaho

2) Hunting 5 days

3) this is our first archery bull elk tag but have been hunting cow in this area for a few years. Gotten into some bulls before, so we are hoping for above the 10% average and have at least a 25% chance!

I'm from Alberta Canada but I also drew a Montana tag so I will be hunting both this year I would say about 80% chance with the 40ish days I put in every year

I am hunting Idaho this year. I plan on hunting 7 days. I tend to fill my elk tag every other year. I have harvested 5 bulls and 3 cows in 14 years of elk hunting.
