Ragnar Lothbrook would be proud!

As for the frontal shot, it seems to me the \"trick\" is not so much where to shoot, but keeping the animal from moving before it hits.

I was out with the horses today, and feeling the structure of the front of the chest. It\'s definitely a vulnerable spot, but with the critter looking at you, you better be very close.

Me? I\'m pretty confident in my ability to honestly judge my confidence ... and there are very few situations where I would take that shot. It\'s not the arrow or the animal that I think would screw it up ... the important part of the equation in my case is ... me. I hope if stars align someday to make this \"workable\" for me, it comes out as good as it did for that guy.

I just cant. not throwin a stone at somebody who can, but I cant take a frontal shot. now, if I got my bow drawn I the heat of the moment things might change. but sitting here on the puter no I wouldn\'t. just me though

I\'ve passed on a couple frontal opportunities - one, I had a bull at less than 10 feet and I was already at full draw. I just couldn\'t do it and risk wounding that animal. I\'ve seen and heard too many horror stories about the frontal shot to try and take it myself, even though I\'m very confident in my ability to drill the spot. I\'ve also heard a lot of guys talk about the broadside shot and how that\'s no gimme either. I\'ve actually lost one bull that I hit high broadside, so I know the argument well. It doesn\'t change my mind, though, that the broadside shot has the best opportunity for success because I\'ve killed a lot of animals and they\'ve all fallen to either a double lung, lung liver, heart, or some combination of those. So like Bnsafe, I can\'t do it but I won\'t argue with the guys who will because there are a lot of success stories that prove that it is a lethal shot if the circumstances are right.

There are 4 things that are needed to make the frontal shot
1) a heavy bow. 2)a scary sharp broadhead. 3) an extremely close range. And 4) you need ice in your vanes!

And even if you do make the shot, don\'t expect them all to react like the bull in the video did. Notice how the bull loaded up to make his run. But that arrow either hit something that locked him up so he couldn\'t move or it hurt too badly to move.

The closest one I have ever taken with a frontal was able to make it about 25 yards before expiring. There is a lot of stuff in there for your arrow to cut up. Lungs, heart, and tons of major arteries, and depending on the angle, you could even clip the spine. They bleed out super fast.

But like I said, \"If you don\'t have ice in your vanes and nerves of steel, don\'t even think about it!

I\'m real happy for that kid. But did you notice all that junk he had hanging around his neck? It\'s a wonder he didn\'t get his bow string tangled up in all that crap!
