GMU 61

Hi I got lucky and have a 61 bull muzzy tag, just got back from 4 days there looking it over( very cool place) wondering if any one willing to give some advise Thanks Jim

Welcome to the site.

I archery hunted 61 in 2012. Pikemaster on herre archery hunted there last year with his cousin.
Dave [Buglemaster] on here drew an archery tag this year too.

Its a great hunt. You will have the time of your life. There are LOTS of 300 bulls running around.
Are there 340+ bulls there? Yes. But they are limited and not behind every tree.

:welcome: Jim! From all who have been there, it sounds like we are in for a hunt of a lifetime! Congrats on drawing the tag. We will be there thru the 20th so mabe we can get together to compare notes. We are planning a quick scouting trip the weekend of the 16th. Ill rope 3 nice bulls & tie them up in a grassy meadow to fatten up.

Dave, wish you had told me you were making a scouting trip and I would\'ve planned one then. Going to OK this weekend to get my ATV and trailer. Been told it\'d be nice to have the ATV up/down some of the roads in 61 instead of my pickup.

As it stands now, I\'ll be scouting the first weekend in October before my wife\'s hunt the following week.

Would appreciate any info you guys that are hunting it this year are willing to share.

As Cnelk said I was able to hunt 61 for the last two years well at least call for people hunting. It will be a fun hunt for you, lots of elk. There are some good bulls in that unit. This was my cousins bull from last year, It was his first bull and first archery hunt.
