Go Pro Cameras

Anybody have any feed back on using the go pro cameras for Elk hunting, Im wondering how far out you can actually see an Elk or if 40 yards is out of range to see much when you shoot with a bow

A buddy at work showed me his video of last season. I said dang nice shot that far away he said it was only 25yds I want to get a small camera but dont think the go pro is gonna be great for elk hunting

Thanks thats what I was afraid of, when I look at film of guys with the camera on there head riding bikes it looks like all you see very well is right in front of you not far out

ive used it out to 40 yards on a coyote and you could barely tell what i was shooting at. but i think an elk within 50 should be fine! plus with the software you can zoom in a little bit when you edit the video. only problem then is how shaky the video is.

From what I've seen you'd be lucky to see anything but legs/body even with an elk at 20 yards.  Any of the action cams aren't going to give you any zoom.  I have seen a hat that will let you attach whatever camera you want. solvidsystems.com

I'm thinking I might just take a mini video camera that has zoom with a little tripod, just have to plan on the extra 2 or 3 pounds

I shot a elk at 50 last year and all you could see with my gopro hero 3 was a little flash of the elk stepping out and the elk run off after the shot. My advice is don't get it. There are a few gopro type but actually disingenuous for hunting, cameras out there that are pry worth checking into.
