You guys see anything fishy ?

Nothing fishy at all as far as I can see. It all depends on what a particular judge wants to hear on that particular day. It\'s pretty clear that you didn\'t impress a couple of them yesterday. It would be interesting to see the scores for the other contestants as well. Also, how many contestants were there for the prelims. Anyone the finishes in the top ten consistently is a winner in my book.

I wish you the best today.

I am sure Trav is out celebrating now in Vegas!

Hopefully he doesn\'t have a night where it turns into Hangover 3

Congrats Travis. We will look forward to hearing more on this event and how it went.

If anyone ever happens to find a video of the finals, would you please post it so we all can enjoy?

Man you guys !! I can\'t believe how awesome you all are. I am sore emotional with happy tears in my eyes from all your support and I want to thank each and everyone of you all for coming on this journey with me !!

As you all know already I was fortunate enough to place 3rd !! I was going for the win as a lot of you know how hard I was working at it but we don\'t always get what we want !! LOL

So hears a run down of the finals........... It all started with my score card from the qualifiers and I was devastated by some of the low scores as Brian Langley was also !! We were talking and we both were surprised at a couple judges and how hard they scored some of us.

So as you all can imagine me wanting to be the first place champion, I was up most of the night in my hotel room at the Luxor going over my score sheet and what I should do different in the finals. After about 3-4 hours of scripting my cow routine from the floor up and readjusting my bull routine so it was a technically as strong, if not the strongest I had ever made my bugle routine. I was finally set...........Now that I had made my bull routine so technical, could I actually pull it off on stage with nerves and zero practice time available. I can\'t blow my calls in my hotel room at 3 AM in the morning !!

So with not much sleep.........No different than real elk hunting right !!! Away we go to the finals of the competition. So we head up and we draw numbers for the day and I\'m thinking well it can\'t be any worse then yesterday as I drew #1 the first go around. So I reach into the bucket and pull out my number and it\'s....................................................................5 Glorious 5 !!!!! Yes this is perfect !!

So I take my chair and we all wait as the kids, junior, voice, men\'s then finally the pro division is up and here we go folks !! Announcer asks for caller #1 please come onto the stage and It\'s Brian Langley. He does his routine and it is perfect just as I had expected as he is a 3 time world champion and he is always so calm. I think he has ice in his veins !! Actually during the competition I had the opportunity to talk to Brian a couple times and he welcomed me right from the start coming over and shaking hands and chatting. Brian is a very stand up guy !! This turned out very different from some of the other well known competitors however as none of them even talked to me !!! Very strange as I\'m the easiest guy in the world to talk to !! But to each there own and I\'ll leave it at that.

So as Brian leaves the stage I go into a blur until I hear caller #4 and it\'s Corey !.............Now I know what your all thinking. SHEER PANIC oh no Corey is right ahead of me !!!......................But for me it was the opposite. I knew what I had in my routine so I was relishing this opportunity !

In my mind I was thinking if I can pull off this routine I it may be the biggest upset ever !! After all I didn\'t come there to not give it my best shot and I knew I had all you guys in my corner and I really wanted to give you all the world title !!

So Corey goes up there and does a fantastic job on his high note location bugle and his challenge bugle. He always nails those two calls and it was no different this time. But I had a way stronger routine and I was next up !!!!

Caller #5 please come onto the stage. Caller #5 show use your cow sounds please. so I do a totally new cow routine that starts out very quiet and gets more louder and pleading and then get really soft and through in a estrus buzz and more cow/calf talk followed by a cow bugle and a voice buzz and this all started with 2 very loud and sharp barks to get there attention !! Buzzer goes off !!

Caller #5 your bull sounds please. I start with a location high note bugle that screams out over the crowd and ends in chuckles. I then go into a high note bugle with a lip bawl challenge finish, followed by a bark and a very quiet chuckle sequence. I think to myself watch the time clock as your disqualified if you go over your 45 seconds. So I see I\'m good on my timing. I had never timed this new routine out yet as I couldn\'t call at my hotel. So now for my last 3 bugles.........the next bugle is one that will make or break my whole routine !! It\'s a short Bull Calling Cows Bugle.....................And I nail it down perfect !!!! All the pressure is off me now as the next 2 bugles I have planned are a walk in the park.

I fire off a demanding lip bawl challenge bugle and only have to finish strong for the judges and let the chips fall as they may !! I start into my last bugle and it\'s a long high note location bugle that holds the high note for what seems like forever and my note never quivers or changes at all and I end it with a powerful thumping grunt at the end followed by a set of herd bull chuckles that are absolutely unmatched.......in my mind LOL !! I look at the clock and I still have time and I want to use it all up so I hammer out 2 more loud barks !!! The buzzer sounds.

Thank you caller #5 the announcer yells out !!! So I collect my extra spare reeds from the table and the only thought going through my head was \" Man that was the best I have ever called period !\" I am so pumped up I feel like I could eat nails and do a backflip !! I nailed that routine so perfect the feeling was like no other I have ever had !!! True GLORY was mine !!

I start to walk across the stage and I look out into the crowd and the look on everyone faces are of sheer joy and they all cheer loudly and at that moment I realise \" Holly crap I just won and there is going to be a NEW World Champion today !!\"

I come down off the stage and there\'s a lady in the first row that we had just met and she says WOW This is going to be close and I think you will win !! Now I\'m thinking this so cool other people actually want and are hoping for us to win. Then I think of all my friends from the forums and that I have hunted with and learned so much from. A huge thank you goes out to my friend and brother Shane Donner because without him I would not be at the level I am at right now with my calling !! So thank you BROTHER !! \" He\'s not really my brother !!\" You all know what I mean. LOL We are all brothers !!!

Then my thought goes to my father and real brother that both passed away last year !! They would be so proud as I tried to win last year for my dad before he died last year and I didn\'t get it done !! Yes I have tears right now !! And I\'m proud to say it !! LOL

I\'m going to leave off right here as Iccy will be posting the video later today for you all to see the action as it goes down !!!! :thewave:

Wow! Thanks Travis. As we all know judging these events can be subjective and biased. Either way you are a winner.

Bill,

After I read your first post on the first day scoring, I was a little taken aback by what you were saying. It was then that I said to myself hhhhmmmm maybe I\'m all upset about nothing. It was then that I started to tear down my routine and rebuild it from the cow sounds up for day 2 !! My conclusion was my cow sound were to loud and aggressive sounding.

Bill you had me up all night rebuilding my routine and I must say Had it not been for what you wrote me I would never changed anything. So here is what I did. I slowed down my cow routine very much so it sounded much more calm and quiet. Simple cow/calf talk back and forth with the odd tougher lip buzz type calls thrown in for simple changes.

This then led to my bull routine where with your strong words in the back of my head, I came up with the strongest and most technical bugling sequence I have ever used in competition !!

I know you and I have not exactly agreed on many things in the past but by you being firm with me, you opened my eyes !! I can get a little head strong sometimes but with your words I stepped back and really tore down everything.

Bill Thank you very much I owe my world title to you for without your wisdom I would have kept doing the same routine and expecting different results !! Day 2 scoring did come up a little so we earned a few extra points !!

Trav: If you are talking about me,thank-you Travis, I\'ll consider that quite a complement. I was merely telling you what I had learned or had been told back when I was into the competition stuff. Another thing you know as well as I do is that the #1 caller is the guy that sets the bar. Everyone else is doing their best to outdo him. I think you mentioned that you was the #1 caller in the prelems. The judges know this and that could be the reason a couple of them scored you low. Have you ever been in contest where the first guy up gets to draw another number and call twice. I\'ve been in a few that were that way. And usually the first caller really sandbags it and then really shows his stuff later when he gets his other chance.

Yes being a judge can be a daunting task for sure. Yes the first guy up set the bar and the judges score from there so I can see where they wouldn\'t want to score to high or to low. It\'s a tough spot for both the judges and the caller...

Thank you Bill for everything.....Yes it was for you !! Thank you for sharing your info.
