After last years fight with the orange army I decided to throw a flier at 54 second season buck. I will be hunting with my pops this year so I\'m definitely looking forward to having some company for a change! He has a couple horses and we can use them if it\'s worth it. I hate using horses to hunt because they are work, work, work but see the value in a large wilderness area.
I\'m heading down for an overnight scouting trip and even managed to talk my city girl wife into coming down with our 2 young daughters for a 1 night camping trip. Hoping someone might be able to give me some guidance. Looking at the wilderness area to get away from the backpack hunters (assuming we use horses) but if I could find some good hunting on the edges of the wilderness or elsewhere in the unit, I\'d love to leave those grass eaters at home.
If you have any recommendations on a place to camp mid July that\'s suitable for the wife and kids, I\'d love to hear about it.
If you\'ve spent any time in 54 and can recommend some places to check out while I\'m down there scouting, I would appreciate that as well!
If anybody has specifics, please shoot me a PM!
Thanks!
Gian
