Have you called in a bull opening weekend?

I killed a NM Gila bull at 8AM on the very 1st day of the season a few years back. He was super mature, all by himself and responded aggressively to a few discreet chirps. Just like in the Primos videos, but better, since I was the one killing him!

Here's my video. I knew he wasn't legal as we had him on cam so I decided to experiment.



I kept cow calling and he kept coming,  key was the cows, I brought the lead cow in as well as the herd and he came in behind and right to me.


My calls got shakey as the adrenaline kicked in.

Hunted opening week and heard bugles right away. The bulls are just starting to round up cows. I did see some bachelor groups also. Saw some spikes with cows, so they're not getting chased away yet.  I was able to talk to a few bulls but they had cows with them, so they wouldn't come in. All in all a great trip even though I came home elkless.

Thanks for the update.  Sounds like they are getting pre rut fired up all over the states/provinces.

Calling should be very effective with pecking order taking place.
