Helped my buddy on his CO 2015 early rifle elk hunt

Nice!
I thought I was the only one who teased with partial pics of an elk.... :haha:

A little cnelk style to start with :D
Helped my buddy that obtained a hybrid tag in NW Colorado. It was an incredible hunt. Bulls were bugling like crazy. Spotting scopes were out along wtih binos as we passed on many elk over 300\". When we saw this one bugling with his harem, we knew it was the one. Incredible mass throughout and great fronts - a truly great bull that I was glad to help my buddy on.

WOW!!!!!!! What a BEAUTIFUL BULL!!!!

Congrats to you and your friend!
I bet he was very grateful to have you out there :upthumb:

What a phenomenal bull! Just to be a part of that hunt had to be one heck of an experience Roman. Thanks for sharing!

Roman
What do you think he will score?
Not much ground shrinkage there!

340ish?

holy underwear, what a bull!

if you have an overarching desire to help another hunter in October 2016, JUST LET ME KNOW!!! :D

Derek, The slope was one of the steeper ones we had hunted. The packout was great - in the sense that it was only about a 1/4 mile from a 4WD road we were able to find. We packed him out in 2 trips each, I normally wouldn\'t pack out that much weight, but since it was down hill for a 1/4 mile, we toughed it out.

Brad, we stopped by another camp that had harvested a bull. A younger guy wanted to tape it out, so we let him have at it while we talked with the other hunter. The young guy scored the elk at 329\" unofficial. I thought he would go around 330 and hopefully a little more, but his left side didn\'t grow as well as his right, but it is a great bull regardless of score. I would rather have a heavy antlered bull like that than a longer tined skinnier antlered bull that would score more, but that is just me. I\'m glad my buddy thinks the same way as I do - he is very happy with that bull. He took it to the taxidermist yesterday and I guess there was a part of an antler chipped off from another bull in this ones head. We thought that he had probably kicked a little butt wtih those thick big antlers!

BG, I should draw in my unit I have been applying at for over 10 years, so hopefully I can focus all my time next year on that hunt, but PM me for any help I can offer for your hunt!

One more photo tying down the big guy on my buddies ATV. I was able to have the view of these antlers on the ATV as I followed my buddy down the highway.
