Hog hunting

I\'m also interested. I know there was some discussion last year but it kind of fell through. I would be willing to help in any way I could. Coordination, research. etc.

Hey Will, would we need an administrator\'s permission to associate with with Bowsiters?

i dont care what kind, would just be a dream come true for me. bow or rifle either one.

dont get me wrong..
i\'ll shoot one out of a tree over a corn feeder..no problemo..it\'s more difficult than it sounds.
the bonus for me would be to meet some of you guys..real life-like.

I am not a fan of feeders either, I like hunting them naturally.

HOWEVER, if that was all we found do, I would do it in a heartbeat. Just hanging out and meeting all of you guys would be a pleasure enough. :upthumb:

my brother just did a texas hunt. kinda high fence, but the enclosure is very large..and he got skunked.

the best part he said (besides being cheap) was the landowner showed up, took your $$, showed you around and left you to your own devices. they did spot and stalk most of the time..and with texas hogs, it helps to have few feeders and some corn to keep them localized. he said the hunting was so hard..big long hikes thru tough growth.

I really wish there were more hogs and turkeys where I hunt in OK. Then we could all meet up there!

cliff, ive meant alot of guys on here life like, be careful what you ask for :haha:

Just saw this thread. I\'m guessing the anti feeder guys havn\'t been pig huntn? Although I\'m am not a fan of feeders or canned hunts, I know that free range hogs can be a bit of a snipe hunt. I\'ve gone to a spot where both high fence/feeder hunts and free range hunts were available and the free range pigs were tough to say the least, highly nocturnal. High fence operations offer somewhat challenging spot/stalk hunting and easy treestand/blind hunting. I\'ll be honest, I wouldn\'t quite call it huntn but it sure is fun and good practice ! If we do this, there will be MANY bloody arrows. Now, if people would rather a more DIY type hunt, I would suggest javis. It\'ll be cheap and there would be plentiful game although I hear they ain\'t quite edible which turns me off a bit. We\'ve been looking at outfits that offer 2-3 pigs, 2 days for about $500. I\'ve done this trip from CO to OK for under $700 all expenses included. Lets hear what guys are looking for.

Cliff, tell us more about your brother\'s hunt. Did he get close, see a lot of game, take any shots? Anybody shoot one? How much?

you guys have to quit making all these hunting plans. when the wife finds out that I am blaming you guys for yet another hunt. she will ban me from the site..... she already calls it my facebook :lolno:

he did get close. hogs were bedded in the thick stuff. he crept to 20. he was taking pictures of dark shapes and silhouettes. he waited for about 1.5 hours until they got up..he said they got up and went to full speed instantly. he still had fun. he got skunked.

6 guys..i think he said 3 got pigs..with one guy getting multiples. there were both feeder and stands..and spot and stalk.

the place had a clean bunkhouse with fully functional and equipment stocked kitchen. he said they had a good fun camp.

i think it was $200 per night..two night min. the guy gave them free turkey killing option, but nobody got a bird.

i cannot remember where he said it was..or what the ranch was.
