How Do You Practice?

My son would love to shoot it. I\'m nowhere near good enough. It looks like a lot of fun. I like to shoot long distance but just started. I do it mainly so the close up shots seem easy and the better I get I don\'t burden my son when we shoot together :D

Keep it up..we\'d love to host you guys. Here\'s a shot of the big Kahuna (Bigfoot)...101 yds. Got one in the 10 ring this Year...and throat punched him with my second arrow...all the practice paid off! :D

I was just talking to Chase about Your response to Redding and he brought up that very target. I think he knows every 3D shoot in the world. I think I could hit that one but not sure about the 10 ring :D

It\'s a big target...but in 2015 I think I whiffed him the first shot, and hit him in the \"club\" the second shot. So, this Year I was happy. Not bad for a bare bow/ fingers guy :D

Just let him read this thread, he\'s ready to head out there. I\'ve got to take him to Ft Benning, GA in August. Those tournaments get expensive. He\'ll probably shoot it one of these days.

My Wife and I shoot regularly in the evenings. I have 7 targets, mostly 3D, scattered over hill and dale on my 15 acres. Not much flat ground, so mostly uphill and downhill shots through the brush and timber. Most of them we do as walk-ups, from various yardages. I\'ve got a Moo Cow target at the bottom of our driveway that we walk up from 100 yards, down to 20. So we probably shoot 40 to 45 arrows per session.

Since I\'ve managed to get my Wife up to speed...it\'s helped me be more religious about shooting.

It\'s certainly helped break up the dull routine that comes after 25 years of marriage :angle:

Here we are, winding down after the Mount Shasta 3D shoot last weekend...with our first place pins !

Congratulations to both you and your wife on the wins. Keep up the good work.

I like to shoot 3-D league every other week with a couple yahoos like cnelk and Aaron Johnson. But as the season gets closer my home practice consists of single-arrow shooting at an unknown distance. Maybe one in the morning, another right after I work out, maybe another in the evening at last shooting light. Once a week I\'ll do a blind-bale session to focus on mechanics.

I like to practice at known distances. 10-20-30-and 40 yards. It gets me used to judging distance in the field. No range finder needed.

I think I\'m gonna be okay. Found an adjustment on my release that I didn\'t know was there! Now I don\'t have to use near as much Backtension. Just learning the ballistics of a heavier arrow at various distances. There is actually 2 adjustments on a Scott Rhino XT (directions only mentioned one). So I think my bow is finally tuned up and ready to go! Just keep shooting and that should be one less thing to worry about!
