How far from the trailhead do you generally hunt?

Curious to hear folks reponses.  I've hunted with success less than a mile from the truck/trailhead all the way out to 10+.  Generally though, when I'm looking for new country I like to be 4-5+ miles in.

I keep it within 5 miles unless I have a buddy to help pack out.  In that case we typically push limits of around 8-10.  My honey hole is about 4 miles from the trail head.  I hunt the whole way into my spot though.  Last year I had the herd less than a half mile from my trail head though.

Sometimes i catch them 100 yards off a gravel road other times i have to go about 2+ miles in on the trail head..  You just never know.

I just go where the elk are,100 yards or 5 mile By the second week of bow season I usualy know were most of the elk in my area are.

I'm like turbo...I go where the Elk are...distance is never a limitation, it defines determination

As far as it takes me to kill my elk. No distance is to far when I get a freezer full of elk!
