7 years, but all in perspective at first it was high school football, college, two year mission for my church, worked for an outfitter etc...so for me it was all about time in the woods.
Not sure if you read my post from yesterday. I was fortunate to be able to elk hunt for my first time. And, the pieces just fell together, set up, wind & calling, allowing me to bow kill my first and only elk I saw on my first day of hunting.
2nd year with rifle 5pt. 2nd year with bow a cow. 3rd year bow 5pt.
Learning one area well. learning to call, including when, why and how (cow/calf sounds or bugle). Hunting hard every chance/day I had the time. Finding a good mentorr. Reading, watching, learning everything I could.
