I\'ve never felt more unprepared for a hunting trip than now but i am heading up tomorrow to Plan A. If that doesn\'t work out due to cattle, hunters, not finding the elk i am heading to plan D. Plan B, and C are both a bust. I am planning to hunt through next Sunday as necessary.

For the rut, I drive to more \"trailheads\" during the rut than opening week to search for the herds. I don\'t hunt from camp for closing week. My SUV is far better at covering greater distances than my short legs. I may hit 9 different areas in 9 days of hunting to find the elk herds.
Hopefully, other hunters have not blown the elk out of some good spots. Tomorrow may be a wake up call of ML hunting pressure this past week.
I will update as time and cell signal permits. Camping lower for this trip, therefore, cell signal is unlikely. In town for a shower every 3-4 days.
Morning Wind chills in the 20\'s. Daytime wind chills in the 40\'s.
Heading West with my very first bugle...the idiot proof E.L.K. Power Bugle. Game on!
