Guys and Gals, I figured I would start a thread for everyone to post their quick updates during the hunt. Let us know anything from arriving in camp to hunt updates. I know many will start their own thread for a full report when they return home, so this is more of a quick update thread.

Good luck to all and looking forward to hearing from you!

That\'s just base camp Don...spike camp, if I need it is much more sparse. Going off grid now...everybody have a great safe adventure and above all else... Have fun!!!!!

Got an update from mtnmutt last night:

\"Made it to camp at 7:00. A local friend met me thinking the heavy rain would be continuing. He helped setup the tent. The skies started to clear at 6:30pm. There are lots more people already here, not like last year. Fall is in the air, no bugs! Just did the minimum setup tonight. The rest of setup will be done tomorrow. More to come tomorrow after a morning hike.\"

My son has an appt with the neurologist at 9:15-12:00 today to discuss the cysts on his brain lining. Once that\'s done we are heading home to quickly pack up and leaving for his deer unit. It\'s also an OTC elk unit where we both have tags for. Looking forward to being in the woods.

Good luck with the meeting and the hunt Lark! Hope you guys get some good news to bring with you to camp.

I\'m not able to elk hunt this year, so I\'m hunting vicariously through this forum. Looking forward to the reports from the field.

Another update from mtnmutt:

-Took a 3 hour hike to opening morning go-to location. Little to no fresh sign there.
-Went up to 11,000 feet, 400 feet below the ridge and a talus field.
-6am at camp it was 38 degrees. Had overnight heavy rains.
-The forbs are starting to turn red.
-Saw fresh bull moose sign
-Debating opening morning location and strategy (ambush or calling). May stay in the creek area like other years and watch for elk before calling.
-Beautiful day so far, but storm clouds are coming in. Heading back to camp to setup the rest of camp and make a big meal.

Just finished dinner. Located several Bulls within a close distance of my spike camp. Seen two Bulls getting it on. Not sparring, I mean an all out fight! Cloudy here which shout help with the bright sky.
