Anyone have any thoughts on Gunnison CO GMU 54. I am archery hunting there this year. I have never been there before. I hope its a decent place to go back country hunting in.

DIYHunter88, I am fairly familiar with 54. The wilderness areas definitely get some traffic. The trailheads can look like a WalMart parking lot at times from what I've seen. Don't expect to park at a trailhead and go in 3-5 miles and have the place to yourself.
Unit 54 also has issues with the elk moving to private land down in the Ohio Creek valley very early in the year, and some even live there year-round now. I know of some folks who try to catch them en route, but I think that's becoming a popular plan as well these days.
Having said those things, people still punch tags there every year, and there have been some big bulls taken out of there over the years.
