How long does the average bull rake?

I want to know this for the purposes of being aggressive.
When they are raking, I see it as them making noise and time for me to close some distance between us quick.

I would be hesitant to claim any average time as I do not have enough examples. I heard one rake for approximately 5 minutes one time. He would rake, stop then go back to raking, then stop and go again.

I agree with Swede. Totally dependent WAY too many variables. I\'ve seen them rake a tree for 3 seconds and charge off to chase lil bulls and I\'ve seen them set up shop on a tree until its laying on the ground. If you have one raking, than this is a time to be careful but VERY aggressive. Move in and kill him but don\'t think he won\'t be able to pick you off with his peripheral while attacking a tree.

I ran into a lot of raking in Idaho. 10-15 minutes was the norm. some went longer. they do stop occasionally. im not sure if they look around for a sec or two, I could never see them in the thick stuff. I could also hear them pawing at the ground.

I will have to play each case by ear and try to be tactful while aggressive.
It was just a case I figured I could cut down some distance without being caught :upthumb:

Always different. One bull came in and destroyed a good-sized aspen tree 30 yards in front of me, taking probably 20 minutes to do so. I was hunting a bigger bull so I just watched. He killed the tree. Every time I walked by that spot for years after I\'d look over at that scarred dead thing and remember it all.

I am wearing a go pro this year.
If I catch a bull racking, I will rush him and see how well I do, all while recording!

You guys can learn from my mistakes!

Each computer will have free software to edit Gary.

If yours doesn\'t have one already there are plenty of free video editing programs you can download.
