Does anyone do anything fancy with their ivories?

I just give them to my taxidermist.
He always gets very happy when I do and I don\'t mind because I am not sure what i\'ll do with them :dk:

What do you guys do?

I have never done anything with mine. I have been thinking about doing something with them but I don\'t really know what to do with them.

I got whole drawer in my tool box full of \'em.
I thought about some sort of jewely but other than that, if someone comes up with a good idea, I sure would like to hear it!

If cleaned up properly, they make a fine necklace.

I carry my first ivories with me in my back pack. Before heading out for the hunt, I rub them and chant \"Something wonderful is about to happen today\". Stop laughing......I really do.

I too have given a lot of them away, but some I used some to replace all of the zipper handles on my day pack. They look great there and work well too.

Now that a good idea! Can you explain how you do it?

I drill a 1/8 inch hole in the thin end of the ivory. Leave about about 3/16 inch of the ivory from the end so it won\'t be weak and break out. Place a small split ring through the hole. I cut off the zipper handle on the day pack with a pair of wire cutters, and run the split ring through where the factory zipper was attached.

my dad always wanted to hunt elk and never did, he talked about ivories like they were mythical. so, i gave mine to him.

I made a necklace for both of my grandsons. And some I have placed in the end on some elk antler knives I have made.

I only have a few left. Most of them I sold to a couple of collectors for over $900. They do have some value if you know the right place to sell them.

I ALWAYS carry a buckeye that a old hunter friend of mine gave me a long time ago with me when I deer hunt... Don\'t know why but I do.. ;) ;)

I carried my first bulls ivories with me last year. They didn\'t bring me the good luck I was wanting them to.

I like the knife handle idea.

Well I\'ll be darned!!!

Plan on having a ring or something made when I finally kill a bull. I keep telling my wife I am going to make her some ear rings out of them. She\'s not really a fan of that idea. I know I wouldn\'t give them away. If nothing else I would give them to my son. He would appreciate them

Razorback - One things I\'ve learned by being married for sixteen years, when you kill something, never give the wife any part of it as a present! ;)

I thought everyone smiled at Dan because of his hair cut!

I give them to my girls for good luck. My youngest asked me to make a necklace for her, so I drilled some holes through them and the strung them through leather string. She loves them and wears them everyday that I go hunting.

from the cow i killed with a rifle in Utah back in 2010. i had made a gold pendant necklace for the wife. she wore it during my season this year, which also didn\'t bring any luck. actually it did, i just screwed it up :D
with my next elk, i will somehow fasten them to the band on my cowboy hat....
