Does anyone use one of the Kuiu packs? I recently purchased one and am waiting for it to arrive.

Kifaru here. Lots of talk about different packs out there...

I was looking at Kifaru as well but just couldn\'t pull the trigger on a comparable pack for a couple hundred more. I started with a decent pack from LL bean; it does the job but is miserable if you load it heavy.

What pack do you run? I ended up purchasing the icon 5200.

I have the Kuiu Icon Pro 3200. Nice light pack with plenty of pockets. I had used a Badlands 2200 for the last 5 years and love the way it fits. What I do not like is that it does not breathe. I get hot easily carrying it and have to shed clothes then If I stop I get chilled and put clothes on. It is a never ending game. The Kuiu is much cooler and vents well up the back. I can\'t wait to pack my bull in it this year to give it a real test.

i have a buddy that runs the icon. 5000 something. 5500?

he loves it. and i went thru it and the pockets i like. it is light!! i have a kifaru and it is okay to me. it is way to much like a regular backpack for me..okay it has extra straps and i bought the grab it thing as well. honestly, i feel like a fool buying it. i think i paid just shy of..(i cant even say it). it is comfy, it is light..but it is just like a Gregory pack i got rid of. i wish i got something that put the meat shelf between the frame and bag.

and we all know that is a good idea. even kifaru adopted the system..after i bought mine of course.

i ordered a Mystery Ranch metcalf and it was just about to be put into a box and shipped to me..(after a 4 month wait)..when my wife calculated our tax bill. WTF?!!! i got on the horn and cancelled the order. hahahahha..the cancel was more for my wife\'s peace of mind. $550 next to a giant tax bill is sorta insignificant..but i get it.

you got a great pack bud. i\'ll buy the Metcalf next year, and turn my kifaru into the worlds most expensive back country trout fishing pack.

Elky it\'s not often you hear someone say something bad about their kifaru. I love mine. Tons of versatility. I use it as a day pack and can obviously load it down as heavy as I want. Just proves there\'s an ass for every seat!

Elky...before dropping the $$$ for a whole new pack, you might want to check out just switching the bag on your kifaru. The reckoning has an integrated meat shelf that functions exactly as you would prefer. I recently upgraded to a kifaru with a reckoning bag, and couldn\'t be more impressed. But.....the \"which is a better pack\" debate is about as convoluted and based on each individual\'s preferences as \"which is the better boot\" debate. Kuiu, kifaru, Mystery Ranch, Stone Glacier, and a couple others all make top of the line packs all with minor differences. It is up to the individual to determine which works best for them. I don\'t think there is or ever will be a right or wrong answer!

Well it has arrived. Late but it did show up... it was lost in transit for 4 extra days. I like the bag so far but Kuiu has a long way to go with their customer service reps. I was hung up on, lied too and interrupted to the point where I was unable to express my concerns with the service. Kuiu needs to hope this bag impresses me or it will be the last thing I ever buy from them.

so true!! i almost got lynched \"online style\" over at rokslide when i said i HATED my first generation Kifaru 20 deg slick bag. :D
it got ugly. hahhaha..

I got one in Dec 2015 and used it most of last year for hunting and traveling. I have the 5500 bag and the 1650. I use the smaller bag almost all the time.

Overall, I really like it. I don\'t have any real negatives to report ... it\'s been strong and comfortable.

There are great packs out there, but for the price, the Icon Pro is very good. It\'ll be a long time before I go in the market for a pack at this point. I\'m really looking forward to using it a lot this fall.
