I know it isn't exactly in the "elk" realm, but still worth a look. Had a little bit of cabin fever today, so I headed out for a hike and packed a camera instead of a bow. Managed to snap some photos of my first "drop-tine" mule deer I have come across in person.
The photo doens't really do this guy any justice...probably the third biggest mule deer I've seen in person (in the wild, alive). Best comparison is that he dwarfs the forked horn to his right and average 3-point, that is below him. The drop tine is on the left branch (as he is facing away). Sure was nice to see some quality bucks had made it through the season.
