New to the forum!

I?m an avid whitetail hunter in Alabama.  I have a great friend in Jackson, WY who has been trying to get me to come out to elk hunt.  I am going to apply for a tag for next year and have started looking into a rifle with a little more punch.  I currently own 2 different 308s.  One is a standard bolt action rifle, the other is an AR-10 style with a pistol grip.  The last 2 years I?ve been using the pistol grip more at the range and dropped 2 beautiful buck both about 250 yards.  Not sure if it?s the pistol grip or something else but I feel much more comfortable with that grip now.

I am looking at getting a 300 win mag or 7mm mag for elk and can?t seem to find any pistol grip stocks.  The closest I?ve found is Browning X-Bolt Eclipse Hunter which has a thumbhole stock.  Unfortunately I?m also a lefty and they don?t make a lefty version.

Anyways, any guidance on a rifle with a left handed thumbhole stock or pistol grip?  I asked my local gun shop and he?s asking a gunsmith but I thought I?d check here.

Remington 700 is probably going to be your best bet. You can buy a basic SPS model and then buy a new stock for it that matches what you want - here's a great place to look for stocks: https://www.stockysstocks.com/stock-finder/remington/model-700/hinged-floorplate/factory-sporter-barrel.html

Your other options are these two factory setups from Remington:

Neither option is very cheap if you go that route versus buying an SPS and the stock separate. As a side note, you could also shoot a .308 and be just fine. That is plenty of gun to take down an elk. Good luck!
