Lets do another gear modification

Great minds think alike..........

I was thinking about adding a stove jack to a couple of my tents. I found the same stuff in the welding area at our local Menards. It cost $20 for a 4ft x 5ft piece. It is fiberglass and rated for 1000deg. I made a small wood stove out of a metal 5 gallon can that had Thompsons Water Seal in it. I used a 3\" pipe for the flue. I plan to make a bigger stove out of a 16 gallon stainless steel beer keg. I will weld it all up with stainless parts and make the top flat for cooking :upthumb: . I will use the bigger one in my 12x14 wall tent. I will use metal snaps to hold the flap down over the stove jack. My 12x14 came with ties like your cook tent Brad. I purchased a couple #10 YKK Nylon zippers and took it to an upholstery shop and helped the guy sew it in. Cost me $40 for a zipper in both doors.

I just finished building a hitch carrier for my Yamaha TW200. I had all the parts. Cost me a few welding rods and some paint. :D

It cooled down enough last evening so I built a fire in the stove.

The draft was good! And the stove just did a nice slow burn

After I made my motorcycle rack I decided to modify my hitch. I have had problems with my carrier in the past with the freezer on it being to low and close to the ground on rough mountain roads. I build something to raise my receiver.

This is the lowest level. I can raise it 1.5 and 3.0 inches too!

Here is a pick with the bike on it. I think it will work great.

Not a prob!

Question for you Terry...

All of the receiver hitch racks I have seen tend to \'rock\' back and forth some.

I am thinking about getting one but I would install two supports that go up under the bumper to keep this from happening

Does your rock?

Yes Brad they do rock. Simple math means that the more joints the more it rocks. I built my carrier for the freezer and it is more heavy duty than the bought ones. I have slipped some shims into the receiver to stop some of it. The motorcycle rocks some but is light enough I am not worried about anything breaking. I thought about 2 additional ratchet straps from the corners to the safety chain hookups on the hitch or under the bumper to the frame. This would stop most of that.
