Letting Elk Expire

Hunt was in 16A, 3rd hunt (back when they had 3 hunts).

There was a different smell. I thought it would be fine but my buddies insisted I take it to a butcher to be sure. Butchers called it bone sour. Those heavy bones retain so much body heat that they rot from the inside.

I did have it mounted and taxidermist was concerned about the hair slipping. He managed to salvage it.

Other thing I learned that night, was that the biggest bulls (body size wise) don\'t always have the cows. My bull had to outweigh his by 50-100 pounds. Damn shame to waste all that meat.
