Light weight backpack hunting cookset

I am a big fan of the GSI products.  I tried the Alcohol stoves years ago and the time it took to boil water was just unacceptably long.  I elected to add 6-8 oz and switched back to a fuel style (MSR Whisper Lite) or JetBoil.

This will be my first year hunting with the alcohol stove.  Maybe I will come to the same conclusion as you did and end up switching back to my gas.  I could see wanting a fast boiling stove if you were using it for breakfast and needed to get out hunting.  I found a homemade granola recipe with powdered milk that is pretty good, so I am going to try that for breakfasts this year.  My current plan is to only use the stoves for dinner, or if I need a hot cup of coffee for a mid day break.  If I am taking a break I would not be in a hurry, and if I am cooking dinner I can always set up the tarp and get my bag and bivy set up while the water is boiling.  I guess I will have to wait and see how it goes.

I use a jetboil sol.  I used a single (smallest can they sell) can of fuel for 8 full days.  This was breakfast, dinner and the coffee/hotchocolate/apple cider.  Now mind you this is simply boiling water and not cooking on top of the thing.  It boils 2 cups of water in about 50 seconds.  Worth its weight in gold for the way I hunt.
