Looking for a new GPS

I\'m in your position too John. I\'ve never owned a GPS, but my memory is starting to fail me as I get older. I\'ve been looking at the Garmin eTrax series. They have 10, 20, and 30. Depending on the frills you want. What I like about it is it\'s good at getting a signal in dark timber where I need it.

So do you have to buy the software for all of the gps. I just want to be able to mark some good honey holes downed game and see where the private/ public boundaries are. I have a I phone but I\'m not sure I trust that in elk country. Looking for a good basic gps. Not to fancy but nice enough. Any feedback is greatly appreciated

I still have my old Garmin 12. It was used when I got it many years ago.
They do just what you\'re looking for.
In fact I keep mine in my boat

I just looked on eBay and thay can be had for $100 - $150

The Garmin eTrex works good too.

Big 10-4 on the Garmin etrex. I have the Legend HCX and have the HuntingGPSmaps chip in it. I have the chip that shows land ownership and the land owners name. Even my little 36 acre patch has my name right own it.

I also have a phone app. but don\'t trust it. But maybe for a backup it might be OK. As for the new touch screen stuff, you need to remember that cold fingers and touch screens don\'t work well together. I\'d rather push a button that works every time you push it.

I really like my garmin 450t with the hunting chip in it. The touch screen makes it so easy to use.
