Not with a bow... Not with a muzzle loader... Not with a rifle... :D :D

I wouldn\'t take the shot since I was normally by myself (except for my wife) and I couldn\'t see leaving him til I could get help... :( :(

Figure I\'m there to take an elk so I\'m taking the shot. If I don\'t want to shoot because it\'s too close to dark, then why am I hunting at that time? If I don\'t want to pack one 2 miles, what am I doing back there then? So for me in my situation, I\'m comfortable with the distance and the variables that Brad has presented and I am taking the shot and then spending the night packing elk back to my camp. Or I\'ll process it and hang it up and come back to get it in the morning. I\'ve marked my location where I\'d be aiming, I realize that my exit will be a little back, but should still catch the opposite lung - please comment as needed.

I\'m shooting as well. If I don\'t see him fall within sight and need to give him a little time, I may make a b-line to camp to leave a note with the co-ordinates for my son to come and join in the fun, once he gets in after dark.

I would shoot. I would not be there if I was not willing to shoot something .

1 hour to dark? I am letting this play out.
I\'m not saying a shot isn\'t there, but I have time..... he may come in closer!

You said 43 which is in my range but the pic makes me think it is farther. Maybe just looking across the water. I dont feel good about the shot so I\'m holding off. Now if he moves a bit and looks the other way I might do it. I would like him to turn to the left a bit.

43yrds is in my comfort range. You can see by the lake that there is no wind or anything that might hinder arrow flight. I might wait tell he turns his head but there will most definitely be an arrow sent his way.

Brad,

I need him to turn his head because all of my mounts are slightly facing right. I need one that is facing left.
I only mount them the way I shoot them ;)

Why you guys waiting til he turns his head to shoot?
Just a mental thing for me. I don\'t want anything near the trajectory of my arrow.

Bingo! I\'m with Bowfreak 100%. Besides, 43 yards is on the very fringe of my shooting limit and I want everything to be perfect for the shot.

I\'m good with the distance but I want that right leg to come forward before I send the arrow :upthumb: Once he does that, it\'s on it\'s way.
