Meat Grinder

I\'m thinking of a new meat grinder ... Cabelas has them on sale now, and I\'m sure other places have them, too.

Looking for thoughts on size.

I currently have a 0.5hp model that works well, but I\'d like an upgrade -- something that I could use to push meat through with less prep time.

Anyone have any thoughts? Anyone interested in a 0.5hp model?

I know you are a rich doctor :haha: but here is what I have. And all you have to do is hook an electric motor up to it. Mine will take elk meat as fast as you can drop it in it. Might be worth your while to look at it and save a bunch of money.

Hmm ... WW ... I\'m kind of short on electric motors ... gotta link for that?

Using two grinders could make double-grinding burger or adding something during the second grind a lot quicker.

Using two grinders (I wouldn\'t have to get rid of my 0.5 hp) could make double-grinding burger or adding something during the second grind a lot quicker.

I saw about three of them at yard sales this week for $5 bucks apiece. And I have six of them that I bought last year roe $2 each. I\'d pass one along to you but they are heavy and shipping would be prohibitive.

Northern Tool or Harbor Freight should have motors. And you might check with an appliance repair shop. I\'ll bet they have a few used ones.

I\'m cheap. I use a hand grinder. Good exercise too.

Theres two things I learned to hate when I was a kid, having to mow the yard and ^^^^^^^^^.

As soon as I got out on my own I got the same grinder as WW and shopped ebay till I found a reversable 110v gearmotor with the right ratio / HP, welded a pulley to the output gear and aint looked back since. Other than being a little heavy to set up its the only way to grind.

I\'m a sucker for exercise. :D

The truth is, I don\'t grind much, and couldn\'t see the expense of a good grinder.

i also dont grind much.

if i make the random burgers or something, i find my food processor works super fast and GREAT! my kitchen is too small to own tools that cant do a bunch of task. i just dont have the storage space for most things.

We have a Kitchen aid mixer, and use the grinder attachment on the front of the mixer.
