The mosquitoes have been brutal!! Anyone have any unusual remedies for them other than drenching yourself in OFF

I am usually covered in off or deet treated clothes, but a lot of people have been swearing by this \"thermacell\" thing. Apperently if the wind is light, it works like a champ.

Too much wind and it\'s no beuno

Thermacell is your best friend for mosquitoes. Didn\'t believe it till I sat in a treestand on opening morning of Georgia bow season without one. Bought one and never had another problem with them. They are worth the money.

I am looking for options for our deck and/or porch. We LOVE sitting outside in the evenings but the mosquitoes have been horrible this summer! I don\'t think the thermacell is the right answer for the porch as I\'d be replacing cartridges and butane quite a bit. I am still looking for options...

How about a fire pit? A little smoke and those things will go away! :upthumb:

Citronella candles, you can get big ones at places like Home Depot.

Or, the \"Tiki Torches\" with Citronella Oil work well too for hanging around outside.

Have you tried the tiki torches with cintronella oil? I have them, but never really used them for skeeters. Plus, if I got the tiki\'s out, by the time the skeeters come out I don\'t care about them anyway ;)

They make a product called skeeter beater that I use in my yard around my deck that works for a few days at a time. Wind does affect it.

One thing about it is it does have a strong smell for awhile. I put it out quite awhile before I plan on sitting on the deck.

I can do the tiki torches for out back but for sitting on the front porch on the porch swing I don\'t know if I can have them in the HOA. (I know...I know...I can\'t afford property out of the city yet)

I will try the Citronella candles and see if they help. Can\'t be any worse than the Yard Fogger and Off we are using.
