Shot this buck yesterday evening - 157 yards in a light mist. Very impressed with the performance of the gun and the bullet:

CVA Accura V2
90 grains of BH 209
250 gr Barnes Bullet
Fedaral Primers

Love it when you finally get the right combination of powder/bullet/primer that your gun prefers.

Nice buck Mitch, congrats! That bullet looks about as perfect as you could ask for as well.

Nice buck, congratulations! Those bullets are great, very accurate and allways perform like they advertise. I use Barns in my rifle as well. See the lump in the deer\'s side?

And the recovered bullet, looks identical to yours:

skullclnr: Is that a BIPOD on a MUZZLELOADER?

Not that there\'s anything wrong with that.

nothing like finding the right combination for your muzzleloader. I struggled with mine until an old gunsmith told me about Blackhorn 209 powder. I was using the pellets and could not get constant groupings no matter what bullet I tried. I switched to BH209 and a 45 cal Hornady bullet in a 50cal sabot and it was lights out with my muzzleloader.

The pellets do not burn consistently. I use the powder form of Triple 7. I have no problems. I am sure it would work good for you too but if ya got something that works why change. :)

Here is website with some great muzzy info for passing the winter months.

Cleaned my muzzleloader Tuesday and put it away for the year. A bitter sweet time. Love muzzleloader hunting and am glad the Missouri department of conservation moved the season back to late December rather than immediately following gun season in late November.
